Intelligent System for Generating and Analysis of Trading Recommendations on Financial Markets
Martinský, Ondrej ; Hrubý, Martin (referee) ; Zbořil, František (advisor)
This master thesis deals with the price prediction on financial markets. It describes automated trading systems based on technical analysis and discusses a soft computing approach to construction of such systems. Also, this thesis combines conventional trading strategies with the fuzzy logic. The practical part of this thesis contains also a framework for composing, simulation and analysis of the automated trading strategies. The simulator contained in this framework is implemented in the Java language and based on DEVS formalism. Because of this, there is a possibility to embed real-time components into the trading model. This work contains also a database of historical financial data and tools for their automatic actualization.

Model of Generation Y Customer on the Market of Banking and Other Financial Products in the Context of Behavioral Economics
Fojtů, Kateřina ; Dohnalová, Zuzana (referee) ; Rozmahel, Petr (referee) ; Vochozka, Marek (referee) ; Škapa, Stanislav (advisor)
The dissertation focuses on identifying a typical generation Y representative on the financial products market and, on the basis of these characteristics, creates a model of generation Y customer on the financial products market in the context of behavioral economics. Based on the literature research, the terms "generation Y" and "selected knowledge of behavioral economics" were defined. The literature research also led to creating a questionnaire that was used to obtain primary research data. Secondary research has characterized consumers on the financial products market. Secondary research focused on the form of payment; relationship to technologies; cash and cashless payments; relation to cryptocurrencies; relation to savings; digital banking transformation; financial behavior of Czech households. Primary research has focused on obtaining information in the field of behavioral economics, specifically the prejudices of the Czech generation Y; and on what financial market products the Czech generation Y uses and generation’s relationship to risks, provided information and satisfaction with products. Primary research data was used as input data for structural equation modeling. Because of this method, mutual relationships between selected products have been found; customer characteristics and heuristics. The benefit of this work lies in the characteristics of customers in the selected market. It is a sector that is slowly entering the digitalization period, and understanding the young generation, which now accounts for a third of its customers, is crucial for companies. If companies are not able to respond to the changing needs of the younger generations, they can lose their customers and hence revenue.
Priming efekt a jeho vliv na chování spotřebitele
Hřebíčková, Michaela
The diploma thesis deals with the priming effect and its influence on consumer behavior. The priming effect is referred to as an experimental framework showing that the processing of a previously identified stimulus affects how we react to a later identified stimulus, at a subconscious level. This work consists of a theoretical part and an analytical part, which includes an overview of the current state of e-commerce in the Czech Republic and the results of foreign studies on the influence of the priming effect, as well as an analysis of primary data obtained through questionnaire surveys and in-depth interviews. The results of the primary data analysis show that consumers are influenced by some kinds of priming effect. Based on these findings, a recommendation was proposed for companies on how they can use these types of priming effect in their marketing campaigns.
Prisoner's Dilemma
ČAPKOVÁ, Tereza
This thesis deals with studying the prisoner's dilemma in an iterated form, which represents a way of playing this game when players compete in multiple rounds and have the opportunity to change their strategy based on experience from previous games. The aim of the thesis is to evaluate suitable strategies for the iterated prisoner's dilemma based on information about the other player, such as gender, age, or other characteristics. The thesis also focuses on analyzing which player information is significant for changing player behavior and to what extent player strategies coincide with known strategies from AI tournaments. The introductory part of the thesis presents basic concepts of game theory and the prisoner's dilemma. Important terms related to the iterated form of the game, such as repeated play, the possibility of strategy change, and cooperation between players, are also explained. Classic prisoner's dilemma strategies, such as Dove, Hawk, and Copycat, are also introduced. In the practical part of the thesis, a web application is described that was created to simulate an economic conflict between a customer and a craftsman. This application allows players to play the iterated prisoner's dilemma and change their strategy based on experience from previous games. The application contains various AI strategies that players can play against. Player behavior data is collected and subsequently analyzed using observations and statistical methods. The results of this thesis show that there is almost no difference in play between men and women, and significant differences can only be observed between younger and older player groups. This assertion was verified in the thesis using a chi squared test. In conclusion, an optimal strategy was found against different player groups, which is cooperation throughout and betrayal in the final round.
Using peak-end rule in advertising and comparing its effectiveness to different age and gender categories
Kozeleková, Kristína ; Vranka, Marek (advisor) ; Koblovský, Petr (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with the application of peak-end effect in the realm of advertisement. The aim of the thesis is to explain the peak-end effect and to try to observe the rule's effect with regard to commercial advertisement. Consecutively the thesis presented 3 different commercials each presenting 3 different commercial products to the participants. Participants' enjoyment was recorded throughout the screening of the commercial with the help of a sliding bar. The results were then visualized using graphs and subsequently examined to try to determine if the peak-end effect was present or if it had any affect on the participants in any way.
Three Essays on Asymmetric Information in SME Finance and Microfinance
Wang, Yao ; Drábek, Zdenek (advisor) ; Janda, Karel (referee) ; Brada, Josef C. (referee) ; Kutan, Ali M. (referee)
This dissertation thesis consists of three essays on asymmetric information problem in small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) finance and Microfinance. The aim of the thesis is to address the key problem in the credit rationing in the SME finance and microfinance and strive to improve the credit analyzing model with the help of soft information. The first essay investigates the factors that hinder the growth of SMEs using a World Bank dataset, and access to finance is found to be their biggest constrain to growth. Asymmetric information between small business owners and banks generates high interest rates, complex application procedures and high collateral requirements, which are found to be the biggest obstacles business owners face when they seek external financing. Small business owners who cannot get loans from banks will turn to microfinance as an alternative source of funds. In the second essay, a new dataset from disintermediated Peer to Peer (P2P) lending market is used to investigate credit rationing efficiency when there is no financial intermediary. The results show the existence of adverse selection where investors are predisposed to making inaccurate diagnoses of signals and gravitate to borrowers with low creditworthiness, while inadvertently screening out those with high...
Testing the Use of Choice Defaults to Stimulate Behavior of Dancers
Skácelíková, Eva ; Chytilová, Julie (advisor) ; Landovská, Petra (referee)
The following thesis presents an experiment examining the effect of choice defaults on stretching of dancers. Stretching is one of possible injury prevention tools. The topic of the thesis is motivated by the importance of injury prevention in efforts to reduce public and private financial burden. Costs linked with injuries are shared among individuals and public finance sector. They are one of the components of government expenditures in the healthcare sector. We explored a sample of 202 participants aged 9-17. The treatment group was enrolled in an after-class stretching club as a default. The control group was exposed to opt-in condition, and they could sign up for the club. The participation in a club was voluntary for both groups. We observed whether participants were enrolled in a club and whether they stretched after class. The data were collected twice each week for a period of month. Analysis showed that the enrollment rate was 17.8 percentage points higher for the treatment group. Stretching rate was also higher for the treatment group, it differed by 11 percentage points. This result was not always statistically significant which might be caused by several limitations of the experiment. Next, we observed a difference of 19.3 percentage points in the effect of age on probability to...
Incentives for Blood Donation in the Czech Republic: Case Study of Prague
Bošková, Aneta ; Chadimová, Kateřina (advisor) ; Pertold-Gebicka, Barbara (referee)
Blood shortages prompt policymakers to find ways to increase the supply of blood to meet the health sector's demand. The aim of this thesis was to exam- ine the effects of selected incentives on blood donation. Using a questionnaire for blood donors, the data was collected at a transfusion station in Prague. The questionnaire focused on hypothetical choices of donors when offered a certain type of incentive. The probit model and linear probability model were cho- sen for analysing the hypothetical effects of incentives and determining the donors' significant characteristics. The results showed that the vast majority of respondents would donate as often as they currently do with any of the selected incentives. A small proportion of donors would, however, respond to the incentives. The financial incentive or small gifts would discourage a cer- tain proportion of donors; on the other hand, offering a voucher to pharmacy would motivate a small proportion of donors. Both probit and linear probabil- ity model revealed several important donor characteristics that affect attitudes towards incentives. One of the most significant characteristics was gender; the financial incentive would discourage women significantly more than men. JEL Classification A13, D64, D90, O31 Keywords incentives, blood donation,...
